PV sculpture
I noticed that there aren't a lot of PV related art out there. So I created a sculpture. This is the just finished clay. I am now about to start the mold process that will ultimately culminate with a finished bronze around Christmas. I try to come back and post the finished piece.

Re: PV sculpture
I would suggest that you get the left hand correctly positioned before you go to bronze.

Well I suppose there is artistic licence but if you want your figure to look like a modern vaulter then you need to make changes. There are plenty of illustrations available - Bubka is always favourite of course from a technical perspective.

Re: PV sculpture
PV Artist,
What you can do to correct the left hand is widen the grip slightly, and allow the pole to cross the body a little bit. The left elbow should be below the left hand, and the wrist should be cocked up. And, since the pole is high, the vaulter is near the beginning of the run, so the pole tip should be off to the left a little.
Very cool sculpture though! Who is the model?

Re: PV sculpture
Nice work! Much better than the one made to honor Bubka in his hometown. I would have liked to see the face of Bubka when he saw it

Re: PV sculpture
It took about 7 weeks, but the bronze is just about finished. The pole was welded on yesterday and the piece was sand blasted getting it ready for the patina application. I ordered the granite base yesterday and it will be fabricated next week. Here is a progress photo of the project so far.
