Hi,
Im a sophmore and started pv last year. I dont really have an expert coach (she used to vault) but I cant complain. I ended last year clearing 9 feet at districts. I was strength training and running and all that good stuff over the winter season and yesterday I had my first meet and cleared 10ft to get the 3rd place! While I was happy with my scoring, im not happy at all with my technique. Here's some things ive noticed: I cant seem to keep the bottom hand flexed or rather straight. It breaks when i drive my chest and knee. Second: the top end of my vault is UGLY. The pull turn and the mechanics are just aweful. I like helicopter over the bar. As you can see in my video.

With that said, I need some tips or drills i can do to keep that arm straight, and to work on the top end of my vault, or anything else you guys see. BTW, I weigh about 150 maybe less, and im using a 12ft 160 pole.
Thank You Community!

Re: Need help with my vault
Well I cant see anything at all on your video, but you shouldn't be trying to keep your left arm straight. You have to let your hands move, so that your left arm come back over your head. This opens the shoulder angle and allows you to swing without pulling. You're going sideways at the top because you are pulling with your bottom arm.
