It looks like Brad Walker needs to post a big mark pretty soon, or NCAA will be very interesting.

Heuser, Scotten over Trosclair??? 5.35 is a noble effort, one i wouldn't mind myself, but to put them over Trosclair who already has a 5.40 and 2nd best jump in the nation of 5.51 under his belt already this year seems a bit silly. Well....i guess we've already established that Trackwire has a lot of things wrong with these rankings..........

I agree that Trosclair should be ranked higher.

The dandy dozen has a reputation for usually only ranking the #1 and #2 guys in the right order. After that they just list the best 10 or 11 jumpers they think should be in the top 12 in no particular order. Just think of the list as the best 12 jumpers in the nation in no particular order.

Trosclair should definetally be third. He is getting the shaft. Not only does he have the huge mark of 5.51 but he has been consistant over 17'+ most weekends.

You cant just order rankings according to seasonal best. Sometimes a good jumper is a great jumper for one day.... i.e. has standards set at 40 cm while jumping on a really fast runway, just getting over the bar having it bounce up and down after clearance, with it barely staying on just because god was on his or her side that day. Like I said, one day like this doesn't make somone deserve to go from the 10th best jumper in the world to the 2 best jumper in the world in one day. With this you take to much credit away from everyone else who has that consistancy day in and day out. For rankings you have to consider, runway speed, altitude (fatigue), competition strength etc...

Adams Rankings:

1. Tommy Skipper:2 jumps over 18' already this year. Manhandled Walker when it counted, not to mention has jumped higher than anyone his age in the U.S. ever has in the history of NCAA. (Any one know what day LoJo jumped 5.71 as a 19 year old). He deserves to be #1 right now.
2.Brad Walker: Jumped twice this year both over 18. Had a strong showing in Reno, as early as that meat was. Got injured in his next meet, then even after coming off an injury was able to jump 5.51. A feet amazing in its own right.
3.Daniel Trosclair: I know who this guy was the last couple years, but now I really know who he is. In any other year, he would be the talk of the town. At the beginning of the season who would have predicted him to have jumped 5.51 this early in the season. This after a super 5.40 jump a couple weeks before!
4.Chip Heuser Cleard 5.20 at the Florida Intercollegiate, 5.30 at the SEC invitational, and jumps 5.35 at the Gator Invite. The best non National HS boys pole Vault record holding freshman there is right now. And the scary thing is he just keeps getting better.
5.Ray ScottonBest outdoor true freshman lastyear. Jumped 5.38 at Rod McCravy Memorial. Jumps 5.35 at the McDonald's Invitational. But only hits 5.11 at the Saluki Booster Invitational. Still has been a very consistant jumper this year. Pretty good for a true soph.
6.Brandon Glenn Has been a very consitant jumper all indoor season, having a new PR every time he gets done with a comp. Has not ducked below 5.18 (17'00) yet this season as a true freshman. Jumped all 3 big jumps on a pretty fast runway at Northern Arizona University. Jumped 5.20m (17-0.75) at the NAU invite. Duplicated that height 5.20m getting 2nd at the ASU-UA-NAU tri. Then jumped a amazing 5.35m (17-06.50) to earn second at the Mountain T at NAU. Whats with these true freshamn this year?!
7.Paul Litchfield Cleard 16'6 at the Snake River Open, then jumped 17-0 3/4 at the Western Invitational, and jumped 17-6 1/2 with very little competition. And finishes off with a 16-07.00 at the Mountain States Games with very good competition.
8.Brad Teeple Really just coming out onto the national scene has only had one big jump this year of 17-6 ½ at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational this year. But jumped 17'5 last year indoors.
9.Paul Panning A 5.32m seasons best out of Ball St. Jumped it at the Hoosier Hills Invite and won the comp by over a foot. We'll see what else he has in store for us this year. Not bad for a 14 foot HS jumper.
10.Chris Chappell Senior from the University of Arizona. Jumped 5.31 at the NAU-ASU-UA tri meet. Hasnt had much consistancy this year, but was ohh so close to 5.41 in the same meet. HAs been a consistant jumper over 17 feet for the past 2 years. Travels to the PAC 10 invite in Seattle this weekend to take on the PAC 10's best of the best.

Other Noteables
Yoo-Suk Kim lets get a qualifying mark
John RussellReno doesnt count
Paul Gensic This guy always comes together
Robison Pratt jumped to high last year to not be ranked...
Trent Powell see above comment

Not able to be ranked in D1
Kevin Opalka 5.45 Arizona redshirt indoors
Hans Schmidt 5.41 Wisconsin-La Crosse DIII

no problem the only reason i say that is beacause the qualifying standards arent by how consistent you are but how high you can jump. Kevin you have been the most consistent from what I have seen

Nice Jump, by the way Kev. Looks to be as if you will be joining the 5.5 club soon. Keep up the good work.
