Trackwire Rankings
Connie Jerz had a 13-02.5 clearance on Elite Women’s competition at Reno. Kevin Opalka had a SUPER 17-08.5 clearance in the open men’s. Really seems odd that these Arizona University vaulters would not be included in the Trackwire rankings. Here’s a 1-20-04 article which clearly states that Connie and Kevin are on the Arizona team.

I talked about this on a thread on another website, but when the indoor collegiate record holder is currently not enrolled and will not compete this season for Arizona, at least they can let everyone know so media (such as Trackwire) and the fans are not left in the dark.
SI people are not usually big on sharing information like that
Kevin Opalka is not competing indoors for university of Arizona this year. I have talked to him about that, and know that much as he competed unnatached I believe (he was not wearing a u of a uniform) at the sparco invitational at flagstaff. As for if he is competing outdoors, i believe he is, and i also have been told he is not competing indoors this year because that way next year he can have an indoor and outdoors season together...In other words, 2 years outdoor left, one year indoors.

OK OK let me clear this whole Arizona vaulters thing up. Amy Linen is taking this indoor and mabye outdoor season off from both athletics and academics so that she can currently train and be coached by Tom Hayes her former Arizona track coach, and prepare for the up and coming olympics. Kevin Opalka is redshirting indoors but will be competing outdoors this year. This way next year he will have one full year left. As for Connie Jerz, she is competing both indoors and outdoors this year for Arizona, and I have no idea why she isnt ranked. I mean com'n she vaulted over 14 feet I dont know how many times last year. Mabye they got Connie and Amy mixed up.
Just fly high, and KISS THE SKY!!!
speaking of rankings, vaultn gus has updated his lists

so I guess if you want to hear it straight from my mouth, yes I am red-shirting indoors this year. I am doing this to even up my final year in 2005. I'm sorry to all my fans that are missing me I know its been a while since I competed in a meet for the UofAZ, but I can promise you I'm trying to make it well worth the wait. See you all in March!

how often does trackwire put out new rankings?

Who did these rankings? All I can say is, "Don't Do Crack".
David "Spencer" Stephens is out of indoor eligibility and has been competing unattached. He has one outdoor season left. The rankings don't seem to be based on last years accomplishments either. Otherwise they would be stacked differently.

trackwire.com has always, at least for the past two years, done the "dandy dozen".... just a nice number for them to rank to i guess. why are the football polls only up to 25?? why not 26?? it's just a nice number... and plus if you're not in the top 12, then either 'A' you're not having your best season or 'B' you're not good. i'm not in it cause i'm not good.
8700... mark it down
