Coaches and officials, take this!!
Looks like they are interested in club logos on poles and changing the minimum standard setting to 18".
I strongly favor changing the standard setting.
As far as club logos on poles, I don't want the NFHS getting involved, we'll end up with some stupid rule that has all kinds of unintended consequences.

Re: 2012 NFHS Survey
Last season I contacted my state's association (MIAA, Mass) about standard placement... All too often I see many many vaulters in my area who jump with their standards at the minimum 15.5". When they come up short, they land in the box. I think 18" is very reasonable. That extra 2.5" coming up short can be the difference between a broken bone or worse in the box.

Changing the NFHS minimum standard setting to NCAA regulations makes sense. Why should less experienced high school vaulters need to set their standards closer to the box.

Re: 2012 NFHS Survey
The question regarding club logos on poles... I checked "no." The question referred to advertising on the pole. I see the logos/stickers more as a way of identifying which poles belong to the club they came from, in order to keep track of inventories.

The only people who have an "issue" with club logos on poles are schools that don't want to spend the money on pole vault and are looking for ways to hurt the schools that do. There's always something...

I want to apologize to everyone. This whole pole sticker thing started in New Jersey, and I cannot believe that now this is becoming an important issue nationally.

Don't feel bad. We have all had to deal with that special kind of idiot who has important friends at the state level and the intelligence of a snail. The problem lies with those at the state and national levels who can't wade thru the 3rd grade BS and see this issue for what it is. School coaches with big egos in need of a diaper change.
