I'm excited too ! Looks to be a great start to the season, we've got 3 HS boys over 16'6 and 5 that are over 16'. Girls field is strong too with 13'3 and 12'9 marks leading the way.

Meet preview

Vaulters prepare to take the stage at the Altius Seasons Greeter

December 17th, 2011

Joshua, Texas

The 7th annual Altius Seasons Greeter indoor pole vault meet is scheduled for this coming Saturday,
December, 17th. There will be three pits and a full day of divisions of pole vault from beginner to elite.
There will also be competitor and coaches clinics that will be offered on the preceding nights. Even
with its early placement in the year this meet will boast some top returning athletes from Texas and
surrounding areas. Some of those in attendance will be Jessie Johnson and Reese Watson. Both of
these athletes are Texas state champions and have a promising year ahead of them.

Jessie Johnson, a senior from Argyle, TX, is the top returning female vaulter in the nation with a mark of
13'3". She jumped this last outdoor season while at a home meet at Argyle High School. Jessie is a two-
time 3A Texas State, regional, and district champion. She started vaulting seven years ago with her club
coach Hal Theodore (Keller, TX) and hasnt looked back since. Johnson will join the Auburn University
track and field team next year to start her college career, but until then she will be tearing up tracks
looking for that next mark, starting with this weekend.

Reese Watson, a senior from Spring, TX, put on quite a show last year at this meet with his clearance,
and P.R. at the time, of 16'6". He improved his P.R. to 16'9" at the 5A Texas State Championship to take
home the win. With an impressive jump of 17'3", he won the 2011 Great Southwest Classic. Reese has
been vaulting for 4 years with his club coach Carl Erickson, (Jacksonville, TX) the former pole vault coach
at Baylor University. He has yet to officially choose a college to attend next year. Watson will be striving
for a new PR and hopefully he will have a chance at it this weekend in
Joshua, TX.
