Interesting... on the Status of Entries page, Brysun is now listed as qualified and declared. Not on the start list but I don't they have been updated since they were first posted.

* Jenn took some attempts at the American record but wasn't really close on any of them - 2 bails and turned right into it on the 3rd .. but great result for her after her injury situation

Awesome results for the women!

That is Jenn's 3rd best jump ever, and her best mark in almost 2 years.

Big PRs for Becky Holliday and Mary Saxer

Jenns jumping should serve as a shining reminder for all athletes to be patient through injuries. Glad to see her back in good form! Now lets hope brad does the same this summer!

USATF Quotes:

Jenn Suhr -Women's Pole Vault winner

On how pleased she was with winning the championship and clearing a world best this season (4.89m/16-0.5):

"Yes, it definitely was [pleasing]. I don't want to say it was a surprise, but it's good to be back."

On how she was able to manage the winds:

"You know, it was tricky and I think I would have preferred a tailwind. And it's waiting your wind too and knowing when to go and when not to go. And I've been around, so I can kind of figure that out. But it is tricky and the warm-up was definitely hard. It was hard for a lot of girls. You know, they predicted that it was going to change, but it didn't change until late."

On what this championship means to her, since she's had so many changes in her life:

"You know, it's funny. I've won a lot of U.S. national championships, but this one's probably the most meaningful. This one was a hard fought one mentally. You know, Rick and I got married and I had injuries going on and everything, and it's one we both needed. So we thank God and we thank each other. And together, we won it."

On what allowed her to win it:

"It's having one other person believing in you. It's having that one person telling you that you can do it."

Metro Roundup: ISU pole vaulter Hutson eighth at USA Outdoors
The Tribune-Star

Des Moines, Iowa — Kylie Hutson wasn’t thrilled with an eighth-place finish in women’s pole vault but Major Clay enjoyed a ninth-place showing in men’s high jump as the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships ended Sunday.

Hutson, who recently completed her Indiana State career with her fourth straight NCAA championship, cleared 14-feet-11⁄4 on her second attempt but failed to clear 14-51⁄4. She was the second collegian in the final standings behind Katie Stripling of Arkansas, who also cleared 14-11⁄4 with fewer misses.

Jenn Suhr, the American indoor and outdoor record holder, won her fifth straight USATF outdoor title by clearing 16-1⁄2.

“The wind was swirling during warmups and throughout the competition, which made it pretty tough,” said Indiana State assistant coach Jeff Martin. “Kylie cleared the opening height and the second on her second attempt. She looked good on both clearances but I think the long season finally caught up to her.”

Holliday overcomes back injury to set pole vault PR

Former UO standout Becky Holliday overcame a back injury, which will likely require surgery in the offseason, to place second in the pole vault with a PR of 15-1.

Holliday, the UO record-holder, finished second to Jenn (Stuczynski) Suhr, who set a stadium record with a world-leading clearance of 16-0 1/2. Suhr is the American record-holder at 16-1 3/4.

“I’ve been struggling with a disc problem in my back,” Holliday said. “I can’t practice as much as I want to, and I’ll probably have to undergo surgery after the season.”

UO junior Melissa Gergel cleared 13-7 1/4 to finish in a tie for 11th.
