Funny uses for a broken pole

Unread postby birdi_gurlie » Fri May 07, 2010 6:44 pm

I'm doing a project for school on the lifecycle of a pole. One of the parts to elaborate on is "disposal/recycling".
Does anyone have any funny or interesting uses for a broken pole?

I saw a post on this earlier but it mostly elaborated on rocket launchers/potato guns/etc.. Unfortunately, this is a school project and the day we present these, the assistant principal is "observing" our class. So those are not uses I should probably add.

So yeah...funny/interesting/absurd-yet-useful ideas?

So far:
-Adding a metal addition to help raise the crossbar.
-Use of small pieces to perform certain drills.
-The inside of Renaissance reenactment lances
-Wall decoration/”I survived” trophy
"That's how God's Word vaults across the skies from sunrise to sunset" Psalm 19:6

When Jan Johnson turned 50, they made a walker for him out of poles.

When I broke my school record in HS, my coach made a cool plaque for me with the center of a broken pole glued to it, cut diagonally on each end (for looks). I still have the plaque hanging in my garage...I always thought this was a very thoughtful gesture and a good use for the label piece of a broken pole. He always made custom plaques for his record-breaking athletes.

My 75 year old father is still staking up his tomato plants with my old poles.

the first pole I ever broke, I use as a walking stick.

I sawed off the top 4 feet or so, put a butt plug onthe bottom, and wrapped some nylon cord around the grip. It's lightweight and extremely strong, and has helped me get up alot of mountains!
