I don't know what a hang clear is.
I do all the others... I won't do snatch or jerk for a while because of my back issues.

Dude... clearly she meant hang clean. No need to be rude, she's trying to help.

It sounded like a real lift.
I'll get numbers as soon as I can... Might not be for a while... We'll have totaled possibly 40"+ of snow by Thursday just in the past 7 days.

OK, add a good deal of DAILY core stability work, plus a fair deal of ab and back! Proper lifting (and vaulting) requires a strong foundation.

Try jerks with dumbbells. Start with 5 or 10 pounders.
And yes, I meant hang clean.

If you don't have a couch be very careful with Olympics, they are very important but unless you are trained to do them, it is too easy to get hurt.
These lifts are not something you can just ask some one in a gym how to do... If you are prone to getting injured from training and it sounds like you are... If I was you... I'm not, but if I was, I would make sure you have some one who has a back ground in lifting before you start these.

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
I will have my outdoor coach (also teaches weights and has been doing so for decades) help me make sure that I'm doing the olympic lifts properly. I have asked him before and he said that I wasn't doing too badly (of course I won't be a "how-to" model any time soon, but I had the basics down pretty well apparently). I've been doing the snatch for a while, I've gotten up to 85 pounds (no deep squatting when I catch the bar).
By the way, I've been meaning to say this for a while... THANK YOU all for all the help and support! It is nice to know that people care!

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
Regionals today. Wasn't really ready... at all... in a lot of ways, most importantly mentally. Didn't know we'd have them today until maybe 2 days ago... Then we thought they might get postponed again...
Had to jump 10'7" or come in 4th to qualify for States.
Came in 5th. Jumped 10'6". 3 misses AT 10'7".
Not too sure what happened... made some weird pole choices and run decisions I suppose... but I AM sure that I'm incredibly dissappointed. Immensely. TEN SEVEN.
End of indoor season. PR = 11'6" SB = 11'
Had one notable success. Nothing else to pay attention to I guess.
Redemption is on the horizon I hope!

PP, give your head a shake and realize how much of a pipe dream your aspirations for your indoor season were.
Don't be too down on yourself ... that's not the point. My point is for you to make this a LESSON LEARNED ... and head into the outdoor season MORE REALISTICALLY!

I have been humbled... But I have some suprises left in me... I just hope these ones are a little more positive than my suprise today.

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
Yes ma'am. I had originally planned on passing from 10' to 10'7" (skipping 10'6"), but if someone had gone out at 10'6" the bar would have went straight to 11'. Sort of weird how they set it up, but I guess it made sense.
