Thank you for the feedback.
What about the full run? Or is the camera just too far away...?

Hard to tell, but make sure you have a slight forward lean and dont start the pole drop until 6 steps out. You drop it a little early and looks like you have to support the pole a bit before you plant. Also once, you do start the pole drop, emphasize a quicker turnover. Think about accelerating to "catch up with the pole drop" so to speak. If done right, the pole will accelerate you.

Yes! I do feel this a bit, but I think I'm losing a little control... I need to do more running plants (including with 3 steps in the sand).

Here are the lead up drills I said I was going to post. The first is just jumping over the pole tip I have about a 9ft grip and am just working on moving the hands and jumping up. The next ones I move my grip up to 9'6 and do the exact drill you were doing in the sand. By doing it on the grass it forces me to have a good pole angle and a free take off. Also if I was to lean back or allow my hips to swing there is a good chance I would be flat on my back. Therefore there is a high incentive to do those things correctly. The next one I just bring the drill to the sand, ther're a bit sloppy but there is one thing I really want you to notice. I am gripping 10 feet, I can touch an 11 foot rim but I feel to hold any higher right not especially with my hurt hamstring would make it to were I would not be able to do this drill properly. Also even if I was healthy I could not imagine from this run holding much higher then 11 ft, so IMHO you are definately over gripping to do the drill properly holding 12 and 12-6.

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
Thank you.
I have done the drill on the grass before and gripped (effectively) almost as high as I do in the sand. I'll put up video of that if you'd like. (I'm not arguing anymore about grip height by the way... I'd much prefer to get feedback in other areas.)
Today I won't be doing too much, but I'll be out there. The legs feel pretty achy, but I should manage.

I would love to see a video of you gripping 12 while grass vaulting.

I was not aruing about grip height just pointing it out. I just thought the jump over the plug drill would be benificial for your take off and body position.

I typically don't do 3 steps in the grass... But I'll put up the 11' (effective grip of maybe ~10'4"?) if you'd like (for two steps).
I really focussed on keeping my left leg straighter today... I just need to pay attention to it for a while I guess.

Do you have a box in the grass? How is an 11' grip less than 11'? Are you really gripping where you are saying you are gripping for the sand vaults, or have you been adding 8" to what you are telling us?

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
I have been gripping where I've been saying I've been gripping. However, I'd need to drop my grip by the amount the pole sinks in the sand (I'm guessing around 8-10 inches maybe?) for the grass.

Re: PP42's Senior Year Training Blog
Not quite the sink in the sand allows you to have a take off angle that grass vaulting will not allow you to have. With a bad take pole angle on grass vaulting and to high a grip you will be flat on your back. I actually hope you are wrong about your grip height. If you are able to have a 12-6 grip from 3 lefts grass vaulting but have an 11-6 pr from your full run regular vaulting you definitely need to reconsider your grip height. You are athletic and have potential to push a good amount off your top hand we are all just more concerned about your technique right now then grip and vault height.

Not quite ...
1. SAFETY
2. Technique
3. Grip, vault height, and everything else
I'd hate to see PP reinjure himself by landing on his a$$ on the grass.
