Fellow PV-er,
Just as a comparison this is the same athlete in the post “looking for a fresh pair of eyes” but at a meet later in the year. He is still on an 8 step run hold at the top of a 160lbs 14’0” pole and this is a jump of 13’3” at the end of a long meet.
Comments please!!
Thanks
Coach

Re: Looking for a fresh set of eyes part 2
It's difficult to tell if his plant sequence allows him to accelerate and avoid overstriding his last few steps because we cant see it. However i feel even more in this video that he needs to take his eyes off the bar and focus on getting not only his feet, but his hips above his head. Access to rings or a high bar could illustrate this concept to him well. He initial downswing isn't terrible, and he doesnt break at the hips much for the classic "kip" on the pole. This might also be a reason he has trouble inverting. Just some thoughts .
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
