Well, Cornelius 'Dutch' Warmerdam jumped some pretty impressive heights... via bamboo. Went to Fresno State, eventually ended up coaching there...

I'd say he's 'cool' because he got push-offs that are almost as big as some elite vaulters' are now! Not to mention he set the WR a whole bunch of times...

I think he held the world record for like 15 years or something crazy like that. He jumped 15'+ a zillion times before anyone else did. He was arguably more dominant than Bubka. Oh yeah and back then they were landing in sand and steroids hadn't been invented, so you really can't have even a glimmer of doubt in that department. Dutch Warmerdam was the greatest pole vaulter ever. I have some old books with stories about him, maybe I will dig them up sometime.

His famous roll really isn't TOO hard.
Instead of bringing both legs over at once, it's one leg, flip over bar, flip other leg over. {I think}
One of the counselors at my camp could do it.
I can't do it, BUT I have a hard enough time as is vaulting. I can't even flip NORMALLY [unless a somersault counts], unlike the rest of my vault team.
But yeah.
