Unread postby angerms » Thu Dec 04, 2008 1:12 am

Im just wondering . Pole Vaulting looks like amazing fun but I dont know where to start. I know I dont have the "correct" body type but I really wanna try it out. I wiegh about 170 and am 5'7". Not very good I know. Used the weight for football. What would I have to do to get started and in shape for the athetisism in Pole Vaulting? Thanks

You're not alone ...

See: http://polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15953&p=116817&hilit=fat+vaulter#p116817

And on a more serious note: http://polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=16277&p=117826&hilit=fat+vaulter#p117826

Vaulting is more attitude than talent or body type. If you're determined that you will learn to vault, YOU WILL LEARN TO VAULT.

And if you're a football player, you're probably strong and fast. You're over half way there!

Good luck!

Only if you get injured, or if the seasons conflict. Football is usually in the Fall. Since track is usually in the Spring, it might conflict with lacrosse?

Both are good for improving your speed, strength, and general fitness, which you need for PV.
