So what's the opinion: Speed Suits
I've seen a lot of videos with people wearing them, and several others where vaulters are just in normal singlets and shorts.
What's your opinion?
For high school kids?
College?

i would probably agree with you in dont wear one unless you are pretty good. In some states the best vaulter in the state cant even jump 15 so i wouldnt put a height on it but i wouldnt wear one if you are going to be at the bottom of the results. I wore one last year because right after i was done i had to run the 4x1 and wouldnt have time to change. Just dont whatever you do wear a wrestling singlet because these two kids that jumped about 12 feet but carried themselves as if they were 17 footers and everyone at the meets would just make fun of them the hole meet. What a lot of the college athletes do is wear their singlet then a pair of tights

My opinion, is just wear whatever you are more comfortable in, and whatever makes you feel like you can jump your highest. If wearing a speed suit makes you feel like you can cap 16 footers and take off from 14' out, then go for it, who cares what people say, its a meet not a fashion show. That's just my opinion though. Take it easy.

also everyone makes fun of guys in speed suits. everyone makes fun of the slow guy that wears one but the fast guy they just say it looks like its helping.. some will apply to the vault... as long as you dont add a mullet to it you wont be made fun of too much

Its the same for guys who run the 800-1500+. If you are going to wear it, you better be good. People can make fun of you if they want, but if you are beating everyone, it doesn't matter. If it feels good do it, just be prepared for the snickers...
Fight the good fight: It's nice to be great but it's far greater to be nice.

I've seen a guy in a speed suit with a mullet... You'd be surprised how popular mullets are here in Australia. When I first came here I was downright shocked at the popularity of the mullet. I think it's mainly due to the fact that a lot of rugby players have it. I got used to it and now when I come back to the US I actually notice the lack of mullets within the population. But yeah, I've seen the speed suit + mullet package and it wasn't pretty. At least he wasn't a pole vaulter though.

Well if not speed suits... 1/2 tights?
My coach tells me that vaulting in tights is a much better feeling.
You have almost no resistance on your legs and it's like running in mesh shorts vs. jeans.
If I grow a mullet and a Brian Sell mustache, then can I wear one?
