We are trying to stay away from GIVING answers away... Anyway, you are close, but not quite there. Please let 6P do the rest.

6P: Do whatever you can (okay, not WHATEVER you can) to get enough cash to buy that book. I'm sure you have $60 in the bank. Invest it in your vaulting career... The DVD is SUPPLEMENTAL to the book; that is, they are not interchangable, but you CAN have the book without the DVD and be okay... but not the other way around. The DVD is very good, (I have 3 different versions,) but you NEED to buy the book so that you can grasp some of this stuff more fully and so that we can refer you to certain pages, chapters, etc.

And do start a training log... have you read KB's 'writing' post in the 'Bryde Bend' thread?

I figure if i sell my body, i'll have the money by next tuesday hahaha :-P my coach has some copies, so i guess i'll get one from him and pay him off in installments. and don't think that i haven't been putting my money towards my vaulting career; I'm spening $30 - $60 a week on training and i gotta drop like $500 on a pole, in december. it really is the most expensive sport ever :crying: BUT, IT'S ALL WORTH IT!!!!

Here's Jason Wurster - one of Canada's best current pole vaulters - doing some two-armed giants ...

You think that's hard? Take a look at Tim Ryan doing ELEVEN ONE-ARMED GIANTS ... wearing a cast on his other arm ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvZ09oI2dtA

He's amazing! He went to Stanford somewhere in 1989-1992 timeframe, and was on the US Gymnastics Team back then. I think this vid was well past his prime, and was really just a stunt rather than serious training for anything.

But just think about putting one-armed giants into your PV training regime for a minute.

I never did them (and I did very few two-armed giants, due to fear of ripping), but I really wonder why more elite vaulters don't do one-armed giants - after they master two-armed giants, of course.

I think it's an excellent PV drill! And can you imagine Tim Ryan picking up a pole and learning how to PV? He'd have no trouble at all with the swing part of the vault!
