Re: Texas Senior Games PV Results - 9/27/08
Thanks DJ. I strained my hammy the week after Spokane so this was a "test" meet before I went on vacation this week. I needed a qualifier (9' ish) for next year's National Senior Games at Stanford. I just wanted to go on vacation healthy so I accomplished that. Trying to be careful, I jumped 13' 1/4" from only 55' and nearly left up 13' 4" from there. I was scared to run further/faster.
Don came off a sprained ankle and a bad case of osteitis pubis that had kept him out nearly six months. Good to have him coming back at full strength. He’ll certainly get over 13’ next year. He had already made 12' 7" in April before he went down.
Coy jumped a bunch of heights and then went directly from 13' 3" to 14' because he was out of gas. Glad to be out of their group (M50) but now here comes Crites into mine next year.
I've heard that Clermont may be switched to SoCal or Maine. Apparently they are trying to get to a cooler locale since it was so hot in Charlotte in 2006. I was hoping for Clermont so I could hang with you and your brother. All the best in Saudi!! Bubba

Re: Texas Senior Games PV Results - 9/27/08
I heard it might get switched to Spokane.
I can't believe they might wait until Reno to decide. It's really screwing up our plans for the multi-event championships (my HS is hosting them this year) because if they move locations they might move dates. We'd rather go that July 11 weekend that they stole from us.

I've too been told the dates will stay the same, which is a month early, because of the National Senior Games in August. World Masters are just before outdoors. I was also told that the decision would be made by February.
I think Spokane is a logical choice and I do now remember hearing that was a possibility. I enjoyed my experience there this past summer and would gladly go back. Bubba

I think Spokane couldn't do the early date, that is why there was a rumor it could change to late August. But who knows.

Re: Texas Senior Games PV Results - 9/27/08
I was told point blank that those dates can't change because of Worlds and NSG. I'm more concerned about the schedule so I can book air tickets. I think we're coming up on another period of great airfares because of dropping oil prices and the massive slowing of business travel due to the financial markets. I'm guessing the window opens in a few weeks and closes just before Thanksgiving.
I’m in Maine right now and all three of us got here from Houston for just under $900. I also got to Spokane for under $300 last year so I’m big at scouting pricing early. Now if only the meet promoters could have a definitive schedule and location in advance. DC can’t put out an indoor schedule until December because they added two lanes to their track and don’t know where that puts the PV in relation to the shot. With that said I know I vault on Sunday August 9, for NSG. LOL!! Bubba
