Thanks for bumping this! It's one of my all-time favorite posts. I still chortle over the heading, the caption, and the original picture.

I worked with a high school girl whose school had only a worn out high jump pit to vault on, and she cleared 10 feet. She didn't complain about the size of the pit, just that it was worn out.

I have always thought that it was cool that you could bring anything to the meet. If you wanted to vault with a fence post they would have to let you use it. I’m thinking about bringing an aluminum pole to the summit. I know I could make at least 12’ on it. :)

I was a higlander for our last Halloween vault, and it was amazing how fast you could run in a kilt. It didn't get in the way at all.
