The best Derek can do is bronze... he needs Hooker and Starodubtsev to miss for this to happen

IAAF: 21:50
No clearance for Stardubtsev. It's for Hooker now.
21:49
A third miss for Miles, and he's out. Starodubtsev or Hooker can bump him from the medals by clearing here with 5.80m; if they don't, Miles keeps bronze.
21:47
Miles and Starodubtsev both have two misses at 5.80m. Now Hooker does as well.

Hooker is over on his third attempt! He moves into second. Yurchenko may be injured, which may be why he keeps passing heights.

So that bumps Derek out of the medal, which sucks for us Americans, but on the plus side now we get the showdown between Lukyanenko and Hooker we wanted.

Not another scrotum injury I hope.

So Hooker and Lukyanenko both have two misses, I am assuming they will both clear more bars.

Yurchenko passes again at 5.85m. Hooker and Lukyanenko will vault for gold.
He must be injured. He got bronze, that's all that matters, no reason for him to force it.

hooker's 5.80 vault was very nice. good height. stayed with the pole better. got in more.
