Nice scene
Even Isinbayeva's coach is signing autographs

Jenn Stuczynski
NBC cameras just caught a glimpse of Jenn Stuczynski. The look on her face was as if she couldn't bear to watch Isinbayeva celebrate. Yelena just posed in front of the results board and was signing autographs.

Third world record of the Games
This is the third track world record set here in Beijing. Usain Bolt of Jamaica did it in the men's 100m and Gulnara Galkina-Samitova of Russia did it in the 3000m steeplechase

Where have we seen this before
Yelena pulled a repeat of her performance in Monaco a few weeks ago. At that meet, she was down to her final attempt at 5.04m and cleared the bar. She does well with her back up against the wall

World record for Isinbayeva!
On her final attempt, Yelena Isinbayeva sets the 24th world record of her career, clearing 5.05m/16-6 3/4

Wow how exciting! Thanks Becca for keeping us all updated, I was wondering how I would ever find out any results!
(by the way, I don't think Yelena will attempt anymore, she has the tendancy to leave on a win for the sake of preserving the ability to break WR as a way of strategy)

Beijing - The organizers of the track and field events in the Beijing Olympics on Monday lost a pole belonging to the Brazilian Fabiana Murer just before the start of the pole vault final. Murer argued with officials for several minutes after she could not find one of her 10 poles ahead of her 4.55-metre attempt, a Brazilian team spokesman explained.
The president of the Brazilian Athletics Confederation, Roberto Gesta, entered the field to talk to officials, who eventually found the pole in a different place.

and now.... they cut to long replays of poor Xiang dropping out of the hurdles... Is anyone really that suprised? He didnt even LOOK like he was going to be able to seriously compete in the race throughout the warmups!
You could see the dread in his facial expressions and in his body language....

and Xiang's coach was crying at the press conference. This poor Xiang was the headline chinese athlete, on EVERY street corner in a nike ad, in a china ad, all over the place.
He is really distraught over Xiang's race.....
