Unread postby powerplant42 » Sat Jun 28, 2008 7:02 pm

So I thought of the best pole vault joke EVER: What do you call somebody who's extremely afraid of Bubka's technical model?

Petrovied!!! :D :D :D

Yeah ok it's kind of lame, but whatever, I try my hardest...

Anybody got any other jokes like that?

What did one pole say to the other? Get bent!

Three pole vaulters are driving on the freeway with their poles on top of the mini van going 80 mph on the way to a beach vault. While driving the go right under an overpass with a clearance sign of 14'9. The three vaulters take the time to look at one another and say I bet I can clear that. They turn around and get their poles ready to vault up onto the overpass. Before they jump they take the van with the Hazard lights on and back it up exactly 135 feet to block traffic plus give the right measurements of a runway. They know the road is not a track and to be safe decide to retake their step in their cross trainers to ensure they have a good take off. Then they need a plant box. One of the vaulters grabs several large rocks on the side of the road and strategically places them to create a plant box. The second vaulter takes off his shirt and wraps it around the vans radio antenna so they know which way the wind is blowing and how to adjust their jump. The third Jumper, Looks up for a second, and then looks down and says "What if we miss, thats a long fall" The other two assure him they can jump onto the overpass and not worry about falling. They all have PR's of 18'10 1/4. The first vaulter starts at his run, his pole slides perfectly into the rocks and he swings up and onto the overpass landing on his feet still holding the top of his pole. The two vaulters at the bottom are amzed and cannot wait to go next. The second vaulter takes off the and slides his pole into the rocks, and shoots right up and onto the overpass just like the first vaulter. The third vaulter is extremely impressed and excited. He can't wait to make it up there with his buddies. He gets ready and envisions the jump, he takes off!, his speed is incredible, his pole drop is amazing, his free take off is immaculate, and he uses the petrov model to use the energy stored in the pole to easily get his body up and over the height of the overpass, however, his standards were off, and as he came falling down to the road he remembers the old saying his mother use to tell him. "If all your friends jumped ONTO a bridge would you do it too?!"

I like it, needs a little work though, too much build up for that punch line. Ha, just thought of one...

Why are bad vaulters usually bad dancers?

Their step is always off!!! :D

Oh man, I need to stop trying so hard...

I was actually thinking of refining and making the build up longer for such a simple punch line, my inspiration come from the idea behind the aristocrats joke, where the entire concept is to make the build up as long as possible and as crazy as possible, for such a subtle punchline.
