Congrats to Brad Walker, I am definately pumped that there was a new AR and that he is jumping well!! Also big shout out to Tim Mack for continually getting better right now!

On a side note, I think we should all ban together and send an Email to NBC complaining about the coverage of an American Record attempt of the Pole Vault as well as only showing one attempts at the World Record! That is such a let down!! They would rather show the false starts and athlete bio's than showing the action that is going to bring more positive light to track and field!! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED in NBC!!

I know. I was disappointed too.

that was an awsome job by brad. it was a great crowd and a great pit to vault at. but im really impressed with his hieght after those interviews from last year when he was saying that he had to lay off of training due to some bulged discs in his back. way to push through it. ive had that b4 and believe me i know he was in alot of pain if he hasnt recovered from it yet. its going to be an amazing olympic year. but i hope to god that pole vault gets the coverage we all want in bejing.

There was a huge thunderstorm in Michigan and almost the entire track meet was interrupted by News Alerts.

Not a very good viewing angle, but here it is on YouTube.com:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATUReY6bjDg

This vid is from across the field - from the stands - low near the finish line, and the shotput scoreboard obscures most of his run.

I can't see it here, but on the TV replay, he had very good height over the bar, and scraped it on the way down.

By "very good height" I mean potentially > 4" to beat Bubka's 6.14!

Brad only took one jump at 20'2 1/2". first attempt ran out of time, 2nd attempt ran through. He jumped great all day though. first attempt at his opening height 18' 8" he cleared by so much he almost couldn't avoid the bar on the way down. Congratulations to Brad on a great day of vaulting
