Virginia Open Summer Meets?

Hey everyone. I'm living down in Virginia beach this summer and am trying to find any open meets that are around the area. Let me know if you know of any types of meets. I figure theres gotta be some meets around.
I also don't mind too far of a drive so anything within an hour or so works.
I only was able to find one on directathletics but I would guess most of the smaller open meets wouldn't be there.

Also if you know of anywhere to practice let me know, clubs, whatever. Anything vault related in Virginia I guess.

Potomac Valley Track Club in Northern VA usually has open meets with pole vault available most times. Check with the director first, but almost all of the meets last year had pole vault open. Might be to far of a drive, but I would assume the track club in Richmond has open meets this summer as well.

Will they have pole vault at Potomac Valley Track Club (at Langley HS) this Sunday, May 25th ?

You'll have to check with Criag Chase, cchasse.acds@juno.com He runs the meets and will know for sure. I would assume they will since Langley usually has all the mats out.

Thanks for the contact. Heard back from the director this morning -- he said no PV this Sunday at Langley, can't find an official.

Anybody know of anything this Sat or Sun. ?

Per email from Mr. Chase (Potomac Valley track club- pvtc.org) this morning ---

Pole Vault at Langley H.S. this Sunday 6/8. Begins at 12:30 with warmups before that.

I just received word that the pole vault is now cancelled on June 8.

A tornado last week threw one of the mats over 200 feet. One of the standards is broken and two other other mats and the cover are ripped.

The PVTC is planning to hold the PV at an alternative locaiton in the future.

Any word on whether the PVTC will be hosting PV at any of their upcoming meets?

The last I heard was that the pole vault will not be run at the July 5 meet. However, it will definately be run for the Decathlon on August 3 and at the Potomac Valley Games on August 31. Holding the pole vault at the other PVTC meets on July 26, August 2 and 16 is still questionable. PVTC is in need of a pit or an alternate location to hold the event.

I heard from the meet director that it will be contested at the 8/2 and 8/30 meets

PVTC on Sat Aug 2nd. -- We will be there. Is it at Langley ?

What about tomorrow -- Is there PV tomorrow, Sat July 26 ?
