Question: Kicking off a crossbar

Unread postby MinneapolisSenior » Fri May 16, 2008 12:11 am

The highest i've vaulted this season was 12'6'' two weeks ago, which was our last varsity meet. Yesterday my coach set a bar at 16' for me to kick off and after a number of tries I finally kicked it off :) . If i'm able to knock down a 16' bar, what height should I be able to clear? Thanks!!!

What school do you go to? I'd say if you can kick 16 (with both feet) you should be able to go 13-0 to 13-6.

Depends on your body position when you kick the bar. If you stay vertical and kick it, you're not clearing much more 10' with the particular vault. If you're kicking it as you pike, then 13' - 14' depending. Video helps...
