17' vault???(WI)

Unread postby gymnastsrock » Sat May 10, 2008 6:42 pm

I was by my jumps coach at a small meet today, and we heard the guys' head coach talking about a guy in the Madison area who pole vautled 17'. Prior to that, he was going around 13'. I couldn't really find anything, an dwas wondering if anyone else had heard about it.

I haven't heard anything...and that would top the all time Wisconsin list by about 5"...but I'll look into it. It's really hard to keep up with it since I am in southern California now, and wisconsintrackandfield.com shut down. People are not very happy with wissports.net, but they don't really realize how TREMENDOUS of a job wisconsintrackandfield.com was doing...I guess they got a little spoiled..

Ok thanks. I've still been looking, but I really can't find it. Our paper puts out a list each week (wednesdays) on the top track marks. I'm hoping it'll be updated by this week.

It didn't happen. Becca would have posted if she had heard anything... and if Becca didn't hear anything... I mean... let's be honest... she hears a lot of stuff...

Definitely haven't seen any 17-footers out of Wisconsin, sorry.

If a high schooler legitimately jumped 17' out of Wisconsin they should post results and video, otherwise it is just a silly rumor that no one is going to take seriously.

Becca,

I can not prove it.. I heard it was AFTER the competition and he switched to a bigger pole... and took a few practice jumps on the bigger pole.. Thus no official results.. I have heard the story and know the alleged vaulter.

I agree it is a vault 'urban' legend, for now...Just watch.. The state qualifying series is this week and the State Meet next weekend. I know TWO kids have the potential to jump 17 in WI..... This why we all love the internet for track and field... Spread the legends...

I have not seen anyone jumping at 17 feet since SODS left for Southern California....
