SV boys claim Ranger Relays title
By Will Wright

Published March 14, 2008

SMITHSON VALLEY — The Smithson Valley Rangers boys track team has surprised a few folks the past two years with its second-place finishes to Judson at the District 26-5A meet.

The Rangers don’t have that element of surprise anymore, as they are a solid contender going into this year’s event. The Rangers boys served warning at Ranger Stadium on Thursday, when their strength in the field and track events propelled them to a successful defense of their team title at their annual Ranger Relays.

Collin Shurbet broke his own school record in winning the 300 hurdles, but the story of the night was pole vaulter Logan Cunningham.

Cunningham broke the greater San Antonio city record with his vault of 16 feet, 4 inches. His leap, which came on his third attempt, drew shrieks and cheers from the crowd cheering the end of the 1600 relays.

Demi's dad used to a pretty fair vaulter himself, this girl seems to have inherited some pretty impressive skills.

Being a sophmore does NOT suck. You still got 2 1/2 solid years, go have some fun.

Demster, you're doing allright, the way you're going, you'll beat your dad's high school pr. Matter of fact, what did he jump when he was a soph? You might get some scoreboard on the old man!
