Connecticut street vault

Unread postby spike gibeault » Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:03 pm

Don't get too excited...there isn't one...yet.

i was just wondering what you guys think it would take to get an official street vault going. I'm not saying like one high school puts their pit in a street with a box dug in the ground, i mean all out, official, safe conditions street vault

i was thinking about the fun meets around here for vaulting and there really is only the York beach vault. and we need some entertainment and a fun thing to look forward to closer to home i believe. not to mention the attention we would bring to the sport

so i was thinking, we would first need:

1) a legal pit
2) a box
3) a raised runway
4) standards
5) a crossbar
6 )a roll out runway
7) a real official
8) someone to manage sales so we could pay for the cost of everything
9) an amazing t-shirt design so we could spread the word
10) and last but not least a street to rope off and host our vault

maybe a club around here could do it, i know there is at least one club in Massachusetts too, not to mention the money the club could earn for such a fun day.

so what do you guys think about this? Good idea? Bad idea? Suggestions? Comments? Questions?

i have the perfect place by house (at the end of a 1/4 mile street). its in a cul de sac, with a few hundred feet before any street turn off. The only issue would be getting the pits and standards to the location.

If we do it over the summer, all of us can go up to my house for the pool/ various other fun activities

oh man thatd be awesome, is the road level? if we had a truck with a trailer we could get the pit and standards there no problem, but we would need a raised runway.

we would need a coach or someone along that line to let us use mats, we could probably use bacon academy's but they are old and shot, i might be able to use a good size flat bed trailer (that could fit a whole pit easily) depending on how far this goes
What could I attach weights to next? Hmmmmmmmm...

KEVIN!!! You finally joined way to go.

What if we just have a gathering of vaulters at a school? It would eliminate some of the hassle of transporting the pits and finding a portable runway
