Add AT LEAST 0.2 to 0.3 to all football times. The people timing them go on the athlete's movement, then take a brunch and small nap before hitting the start button on the stopwatch. It boosts egos and makes athletes look god-like.

Far from accurate.

For football, most timers (i.e. coaches) start the clock on movement by the athlete and anticipate the finish. Adding 0.2 is standard for handtiming. For football handtiming it's more like 0.3-0.4.

okay so now that youve specified YARD. its slightly more believable. but like you said, if you trained for it, you could run a 4.5. we should not be training to be 40 yard sprinters, so therefore. a pole vaulter running it (unless specifically training for it) is quite unlikely.
