Brian Hunter, 5.35m, 1st place Men's Open, 2008 Pole Vault Summitt isn't exactly what I would call a half-assed effort. It essentially beat half of the Elite vaulters and tied/bettered everyone of the so-called Emerging Elite. The guy obviously still has the right stuff.

Whoever you are, I think I speak for nearly everyone on the Board, you have our profound respect no matter the eventual outcome. Most will be rooting for you. There isn't a PVer out their that doesn't harbor the desire to "live the dream". Best of luck.

I doubt its Hunter or Davis.

Davis PR was 5.95 ish?
Hunter's PR was 5.70 something

Agreed. I believe his last practice nine years ago would put him a little bit before Davis and Brian.

Then again... I have been known to be wrong quite often!

Not that I am trying to prod or pry, but possibly Bill Deering?

Only the mods know and we're not going to give any indication one way or the other about any guess!

We all think it's a pretty big deal though!

Good guess on Bill Deering, except that his PR is 5.80 and he jumped over 5.70 in college at Miami. I mean I wouldn't count him out, but since he went to the same Coach i did in HS, I would have heard about it since i keep in regular contact with our coach... so i don't think its him!

Whoever it is, that would be sweet! :)

I heard mr. pole vault died in a freak accident when he drilled holes in his pole for improved aerodynamics during his senior season at U of Delaware. That dude was money for making the '00 team.

You should do a 60 minutes interview with the darkened face and voice over LOL. Bring some more attention back to the vault!

Thanks for all the support so far. Sorry about all the secrecy, but I don't really want any sort of attention in case I fall flat on my face! I'm encouraged by my start so far, but hopefully I won't do anything stupid to hinder my progress.

The secrecy will bring you more attention than anything. I can understand it though. Pressure and expectations to perform suck, and having fun doing what you love is fantastic. Believing in yourself is way more important than what others think. I like your style. Best of luck, and see you in June :)
