my friend was watching some show on the country music channel and there was a vaulter, jumping around 17 and he got his...jewels...hung up on the top of his pole and he rode it all the way down stuck on the top of his pole, and i saw another one on americas funniest home videos the same day where someone just broke a pole, that was the first time ive seen polevaulting on tv

i've seen it on jackass multiple times. i also saw some commercial where a cow was pole vaulting over the moon. don't remember what it was for though.

I was watching that High School Musical audition show (don't ask why) and there was a girl who was a pole vaulter, and she talked about clearing 7'... Also, sort of off topic, the ex-push up world record holder was a pole vaulter (or he wanted to be).

an old tv show called 21 Jump Street which starred a young Johnny Depp. The show was about young cops going under cover in high schools to prevent teenage crime. There was an episode which involved racist track athletes and they showed some nice vaults during the episode.

Have you heard about Chrome, Google's release today of a new web browser? In an announcement about it, in the form of a comic book that tells its story, there is a "set a new bar' reference including a vaulter. Actually they are referring to a JavaScript virtual machine they have developed called V8, which is used within Chrome.
