Russell runs through on his first attempt at 5.45.

Scotten snakes over the bar with quite a lot of contact, but it stays up for a first attempt make.

Higham hits the bar on the way down (standards may be too far back) for his first miss at this height.

Mondschein brushes it a little but makes 5.45 on his first attempt.

The cross wind is getting a little stronger and constant. It feels nice in the stands but I'm sure that the vaulters don't appreciate it.

Thames runs through on his first attempt.

Skipper is still passing.

Poljanec comes up, doesn't complete the vault, and misses his second attempt.

Russell runs through on his second attempt after starting his run, stopping after a few steps, and then walking back and giving it another try.

Higham also runs up, stops, and tries again. He comes up and doesn't complete it for a second miss.

Thames misses on his second attempt...this time it looked like he just didn't have the height.

Poljanec passes on his last attempt.

Russell makes it over 5.45 on his third attempt.

Higham misses on his third. He is out of the competition after jumping 5.35.

If I didn't mention it already, Skipper also passed this height.

Despite an encouraging clap, Thames misses on his third attempt. He is also out after jumping 5.35.

Seven are left as the bar goes up to 5.50.

Skipper is taking a run through. If his warm up is any indication of what's going to come, look out for some high bars.

Pratt also takes a run through.

The entire field is now in the competition at this height.

The cross wind is no longer constant. In fact, the winds seem to be switching between cross and tail wind gusts and no wind at all.

Landers misses on his first attempt.

Poljanec takes his first attempt at this height and misses. He is out of the competition after jumping 5.35 today.

Robbie Pratt of BYU (well, everyone knows where he is from) misses on his first attempt after coming up and to the side before landing on top of the bar.

Russell runs through on his first attempt.

Scotten comes up and doesn't finish it. He's got a first attempt miss at this height.

Mondschein hits it on the way up but definitely looks like he has the height to get over.

Tommy gets a clap on his first attempt and SOARS over the bar. Wow!

Landers comes up and doesn't finish it. He now has two missed attempt at this height.

Pratt hits the bar again for a second miss. He isn't looking too strong today but there's always a third attempt.

Scotten is up (Russell seems to have passed). The cross wind is back and Ray hits the bar on the way down for his second miss at 5.50.

Mondschein doesn't clear it on his second attempt.
