Is there any video of PP jumping anywhere on here? It's hard to fathom any PR predictions without seeing a kid jump (other than sand drills).
Why don't you post your video from this last meet where you jumped 11'00"? I'm pretty good at making season predictions for my own vaulters and can usually get within 6" or less based on what I see this early in the season. Of course, that's with constant coaching, unlimited supply of poles and strict supervision of their training regimen.

It would be interesting to hear some predictions from someone other than PP. I think aiming high is fine ... to fall amongst the stars. I just don't think that outrageous predictions should be made public ... they can bite you later.
PP, my advice is to work on that 14-0 that you aspired to before Xmas, and once you get that, THEN you can publicly aspire to 15-0 or 16-0 ... not before.

Stay task-oriented, not outcome oriented in your motivation.
Having said that, I'm not gonna bet on a vaulter NOT being able to do something. Some vaulters made that same mistake with me in high school, and it came back to bite them. But also, it only half-motivated me and half-hurt me because i felt like i no one believed in me but my coaches and close family.

For instance, in all fairness, I am a mid-17 foot vaulter. I have all the skills, i have the mindset, I have been at bars with that kind of height.
The fact is, I'm coming off a NH at 14'3" in a COLLEGE meet!Forget the circumstances, results don't lie. Plus, my college PR is only 4.91. Internally, you keep that feeling of being a high jumper in your head. But in the BACK of your head! Maybe use it for visualization, but that's it! The tasks at hand each day and each week are more important than your "potential" PR. I'm going into my next meet treating my opening bar as the most important bar of the meet. And it is, because i haven't jumped it yet! Then if i do, the next bar is the most important bar. Don't doubt that I've had 5.00m vaults in practice, but practices are not the same as meets. Trust me, if i had treated every bar below 16'3" as a joke last year just because i've opened that high at meets before, i would be in a much more negative state of mind than I am in right now. You accept where you are at, stick to your plan to get better, and trust the results to come over time. The more you try to MAKE things happen, the more you get frustrated when things don't fall perfectly according to plan.

Certainly you're not referring to any predictions by ME...? I haven't really made any predictions at all. Here's my prediction: I'll work hard and I'll get what I get and will be happy with it because I know that I gave it my greatest effort.
And yes, I can count! I know it seems like all I'm thinking about is "the future", but it's really not the case... I am completely concerned with "the next height" currently (and from here on out).

I can tell that I'm a little bit under... That's in my other jumps too. The pole is unbending before I finish my swing (which never actually gets finished), but it still seems like I only have the "flat-back" for a few frames. Thoughts?
The meet tomorrow isn't going to happen for me... I'll have to wait until Regionals, which are the 9th OR the open meet that PG is doing a few days prior.

I don't think you are athletic enough to jump 16' anytime soon, but I think you have a decent vault and if you keep working hard you should have some PRs in your future.

How high was your grip? It seemed to be somewhere around 11-6? If you were attempting 12-0 instead of 10-6, then what grip would you use?
Your technique is better than most 11-6 vaulters that I've watched ... even tho this clearance was just 10-6. But don't let that go to your head ... your technique is still no better than most 12-13 foot vaulters.
Your stretch and downswing are good ... no doubt a result of all your highbar Whip Drills!
You need more oomph on takeoff ... jump harder ... and eventually your plant, jump, and stretch to the C will become one continuous motion!

The leg has really been a killer... I was quite fast a few months ago... And I've got ~8.8 m/s with a pole in a flying 20 marked down on 10/26/08... I'd be scared to see what it would be now.
I still have the 12' grip from 3 on a stiff pole. I don't see my run getting better (substantially faster) for at least a month (although I was not at 100% in the clip because of my knee/shin as well as at least a dozen previous vaults)... What can I do other than high bar?
