Pole Demos? and a little advice needed.

Unread postby theflyingkorean » Mon May 26, 2003 1:41 am

Does anyone know of places that do pole demos where vaulters can come out and demo poles? I know golf companies have demo days at country clubs to get the word out about new equipment and let people have a feel. Anything similar to this in California or any other state/area? I think it would be VERY cool. They could go to different meets and set up camp there. Reason I am asking this is becasue I want to demo a Pacer Carbon FX. I've heard a great deal of good things about them and I wanted to try one out before putting down about $500. I have always used UCS, but since our school doesn't have the pole i need, I was thinking about buying one, eithe rUCS or Pacer FX, but I wanted to test out both. I weigh 153, and I am 5'9". I got a lotta pole speed and bend in my UCS 15'-155, but i think it is too much?!?! Is that even possible? I got on to the pole, but then when it shoots up, its right over the box and that is never good. HELP!

try choaking down a hand grip or two before looking for new poles. Also, make sure your moving your hands through the extent of your vault. If you just hang and don't keep the pole ahead of your center of Gravity, you'll come short unless your really fast or bloeing through your pole. Finally double check that your taking off with your step on. Thats important for us little guys.

Most of Jan Johnson's Sky Jumpers have a lot of poles available - also go to summer meets - the Illini Heat Track Club has a meet 21 June - Champaign - lots of poles there
Plant like crap sometimes ok most times
