I'm up in MA... and yeah it's still pretty cold here and we begin practice this monday. I'm tryin to figure out if a hoodie and sweatpants is too much bulk to start my vaulting in? I don't plan on doing any full jumps until later on in our 2nd week of practice.. but what do you think?

Now that's some funny stuff.... Texasvaulter07 telling you to man up. It's never cold in Texas! I know you probably didn't mean for that to be funny, but it made my day. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the bulk....you should be fine. (If it does ever present a problem, take your hoodie or w/e off before you jump and then put it back on while you wait for your next turn.)
I would recommend wearing under armour (both top and bottom) underneath...it makes a world of difference

I am in maryland and in the winter we pole vaulted when it was like like 30 degrees out i would recomend the same under armor top and bottom and throw a sweatshirt and on when you don't jump thats what i did. i also used sweats and was fine.

It's gonna be cold for our first meet on Monday too. You better believe I'm gonna be wearing under armor, sweatpants, hoodie all the good stuff. Your turn on the runway only lasts a minute or two. Just wear the warm stuff 'till your on deck.

60 is cold? at 60 degrees, I'm running around in shorts and a tank top because...its so warm.
On the other hand, I found the perfect solution to my hands being dry in the cold so I can't relaly hang onto the pole - my work gloves. Basically, they're gardening gloves or soemthing (with the rubber stuff on either side).
