PV & HJ Weather covers Info needed

A weather cover is one that drains the rain off the system to keep it protected from the elements.
We have found that if you heat seal the weather cover completely this creates a potential problem that could allow the water to build up in a pond on top of the landing system and mashes the foam. We have found that a sewn type works better as it does seep, however if you place a hurdle on it side or a Beach ball underneath weather cover to create a TeePee affect, you can drain the rain off very effectively.
While both types of weather covers are very good we recommend that this method will work for both types.

Speaking of weather covers, will any standard, heavy-duty tarp work as a pv pit weather cover?

The prices of "custom" weather covers listed in the catalogues seems outrageous to me.

What sort of places might sell standard heavy-duty tarps that might do the trick? Boat stores? Lawn & garden stores? Are there other vendors/sources?

Anybody got any ideas on this topic?

We have a huge like 30'x33' tarp that we put under our rain cover. I think our coach got it at a hardware store or something. Thousands cheaper then a new rain cover.

The high school where I coach has ordered a new pit (for the new rules). It looks like I'm going to put the old one in my back yard ("Honey, you know where that vegetable garden used to be in the back yard? Well...."), so I promised my wife that I'd find a green cover for it.

You can take the old weather cover cut each of the 4 corners and get another 2 feet of coverage on each side.

You can go to Home depot or Lowes and they have a woven blue plastic tarp that is reasonable that will work about one season. This will save you money too.
