What is the difference between pole vault spikes and 100-400 m spikes?

I know they have a chunkier heel, but what are the other differences and in your opinion, do they honestly help?

These are what I have.

addidas, asics and nike all make specifically vaulting
spikes that i know of. this year and last year i vaulted
without spikes till one meet this season it rained and i
was slipping all over. i went out a baught a pair of cheap
addidas spikes from sports authority and have used them
in 3 meets now and in practice and i don't think i'll ever
vault in something other than spikes. they are definitly
worth it! get a pair!

I guess it would all be preference to some extent. A heel is a good thing. Other than that I feel for me pv spikes help, but I see people jumping high (including my pr) in non-pv spikes. It's like regular shoes, some people like the style some don't.

DONT FORGET REEBOK!!!

in my opinion- reebok makes the best event specific shoe on the market. The reebok pole vault shoe is similar to the nike one, but to me, its WAY better....
They last a long time, going on 2 yers with mine, and i weigh over 200lbs, so i wear and tear my shoes....

just giving reebok some love

I like nike's old long jump spikes. they weigh less than the pole vault specific spikes and my coach likes them better too. their new long jump ones are for pole vault too and that is what i would recommend for anyone. they work great for me and last. i just finished my second year in the old long jump ones and the only reason i need new ones is that my feet grew

I jump with a pair of addidas LJ/PV spikes from the series that came out about 2 years ago. They have been good to me ever since, plus I like the neon orange bottoms on them.

I just wanted to let you guys know, I was looking on Eastbay and I found these. They're marked down from 89.99 to 29.99 and they triple jump/polevault spikes.

Buy them now! That's a great deal.

I had a pair of those when I first started. They worked great. The only problem that I had with them was that I basically wore them out in a year and a half. Also, there was some defect with the shoe so that the spike sockets got stripped really easily.

However, that was just an unfortunate fluke on my pair. A friend of mine vaulted year round with them and had them for 3+ years.
