to any of you all making poles out there
does any know what Young's Modulus (epsilon) is for the carbon composite. using it for a small project

it depends on the carbon. t300 and t700 are in the 34MSI range, that is fiber and not laminate properties. LAMINIA is a differrent set of measure.
We use only T-700 carbon in our carbon poles which is very hard to obtain right now due to the demand of the aerospace and military needs.
BUt we do have plenty in stock for the year.
T3 is the same stiffness, the same modulus but does not have the flexural and tensile strength as the T7 we use.

I was reading on a site most recently about how the company was using "genetic engineering: to design and produce their vaulting poles.
I had to snicker and you will too when you read the following found on the a SILK SOY Milk carton:
"Genetic engineering is a science that takes traditional plant breeding methods a step further. With it scientist can insert specific genes from one species into another.
This results in combinations nature could never create."
SO I am trying to understand what they are trying to say to the reader (and I am sure you will too when you read it.)
1. Are they using Genes to alter the pole?
2. Is it genes like; thier fathers built poles and they are now?
3. So they have a PHD who is using DNA to build poles?
Anyway HYPE is HYPE
Comparing apples to oranges?? 30 % lighter maybe but will the orange taste and perform like apples that is the question!
Or rather will the athlete be able to perform on that stiff stick?
Might be HYPe to get you to pay more for 12' and 13' E glass Carbon poles?
JUST my thoughts with a bit of humor!!
