Hey, I just checked out the video's of Stevenson bustin 6m and thier was all this talk of it being the short peg record. I'm guessin this refers to the length of his pole, but whats he on vs what 6m has been done on before?

They reduced the length of the pegs that hold up the crossbar starting last year. Stevensons jump was the heighest since the summer of 2001 when there was a 6.05 jump on the long pegs.

no they are referring to the change in the length of the support pegs that hold the cross bar on. Two years ago the powers that be decided this would be a great idea for college and international competitions. They made the pegs shorter by some 20mm if I remember correctly. they used to be 75mm and now they are 55mm.

Well jeez, thats hardly as interestesting as it sounds, he was clean over anyway. Question does still stand, how long is his pole and how long was Bubka's or Hartwig's or others?

its pretty impressive though. The bar falls off way easier with the short pegs.

Hartwig uses a 5.20m pole, Bubka used a 5.30m pole, Stevenson a 5.10m pole...... IS this the shortest pole that anyone used to clear 6.0m?

Toby was on a 5.10 pole, or a 16'9" pole. Bubka and Hartwig were both on 17' poles i believe. Although I wouldn't be suprised if bubka has jumped 6 meters on a 16'5" or 16'9" pole at least one of the 42 times he's been over it.

6.15i 20-2...............Sergey Bubka (Ukr) 93
6.05 19-10 1/4...... Maksim Tarasov (Rus) 99
.......................Dmitriy Markov (Blr) 01
6.03 19-9 1/4........Okkert Brits (SA) 95
.......................Jeff Hartwig (US) 00
6.02i 19-9...............Rodion Gataullin (SU) 89
6.01 19-8 1/2........Igor Trandenkov (Rus) 96
6.00 19-8 1/4.........Tim Lobinger (Ger) 97
i .......................Jean Galfione (Fra) 99
i .......................Danny Ecker (Ger) 01

I know some of these guys were on 5.20s and the others probably were too except maybe Ecker? He didn't have a great takeoff on that jump. Bubka did try some 5.30s but found that he lost efficiency with them so went back to 5.20s. Also keep in mind that some of these guys weren't holding at the very top either. Maybe someone knows for sure.

Ecker's like 6'7", so good take off or not i don't think its too hard for him to get on 5.20 poles. I'd be willing to bet he was on one. Plus, anything, including poles, looks smaller next to someone who's 6'7"

Really? I thought he was only in the 6'2 6'3 range.
