werent you the one just talking about a good jump for a 9th grader? hopefully you're not that ninth grader, or hopefully this pole you're looking for isnt for you...you shouldnt' be holding on a 15' 6" or 16" as a freshman pole vaulter, especially if you have little or no vault experience...just my thoughts

14'6" is a good jump for a freshman, but if your using a 16' foot pole it isn't. you should be getting at least the height of the pole, or your grip height to actually be pole vaulting. what state are you vaulting in?

Your going to kill yourself if you go straight to a 16' pole, have you planted anything over 14'6"? I would try 15' first if i were you. Progrestion is the best way to go not giant leaps.
