Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an "easily" portable pole vault pit? I know there is an inflatable high jump pit, but I was wondering if anyone knows something about one for the pole vault.

The Thermo Flex "Cloud 9" was a portable pit in the late 1960's. I would get it out of the shed, pull it 1/4 mile to the track and set it up. One person could easily handle it.

The problems are as follows:

The pit is no longer made.
It would not meet any current rule book regulations.
It was not the softest landing unless you landed in the landing zone.

To my knowledge, there are no "one person" set up pits today. Unless one person wants to drag out a foam pit piece by piece.

The problem with inflatable pits is if you land wrong you can easily get launched. The most portable pole vault pit will be a pit that meets the minimum high school requirements. It can help to have a wheeled cart to move it around.

Another problem was that a lot of the old Cloud 9 set ups had the box fan right at the edge of the pit. One of my high school coaches set his college PR and ended his career on the same jump by breaking his arm on the fan box when he landed.
