buying different brand poles

At my training facility our longest poles are 4.60m. Our stiffest poles have a flex of 16.8, 15.6 and 14.5. They are UCS spirit poles.
Now I have the opportunity to buy secondhand Pacer Carbon poles. They are 5m long and with a flex of 18,6, 18,1, 17,6 and 17,2.
How do these poles compare with the UCS poles of 4.60m?

All I can advise is to flex them yourself at the same lengths to see how they compare. I haven't been in this very long, but I have discovered that weight ratings and flex comparisons among manufacturers mean almost nothing.

Your 460 are a like a 180, 185, and 190

the 5m poles are soft 180 stiff 180, soft 185 stiff 185

So if the person was short running on the 460 could possible long run on the 5m --

Ok. Tnx!

I have a picture of the poles. How can this pole be compared to UCS? These are used poles. Is this an older version of Carbon Pacer poles?

Those look to be early 2001-2002-2003 type the label changed to have more black after that - they should have an engraving with year at top of handle - the flex to wgt rating numbers I gave you are accurate -- and since the 460's (15 footers UCS) use the same basic span and flex as Gill at that length - those rating should be close also --

The difference in size between poles is going to be much more noticeable than the difference between brands!
