You should try these spikes

So I just got my new Mizuno Long jump spikes today. I have to say that they blow the Nike spikes way out of the water. They are significantly lighter, and the spike plate is much better suited for maintaing speed at takeoff than the Nike TJ or the Nike LJ spikes...Thats just my two cents.

Apparently the mizuno factory burned down, and the only place that i can find my size (11.5 they run 1/2 size big) is at Dick Pond Athletics. They have ample amounts available from what I understand.

The last time i was at Pick Ponds (God, I love living 10 minutes from that place), I tried on EVERY pair of jump spikes in the store to see if any would fit with my new orthotics. The Mizunos felt significantly different than any other pair of spikes i tried on that day (Adidas LJ, TJ, Nike LJ, TJ, New Balance LJ, TJ, Mizuno LJ, TJ and Reebok LJ, TJ) I have no idea how that correlates to the runway, but they are worth trying on if you ever get the opportunity!

Ok, so I keep hearing really good things about these Mizunos, and I'm definitely going to discontinue my use of PV Lite's.

BTW- does anybody on here know any one on here that has had a problem with their feet (navicular fracture in specific)? I know of 3 vaulters, one being me, with a navic fracture...They were all using PV lites when the injury came about. I also get to talk to/be coached by Tracey O every once in a while. She said she had come up with the same interesting conclusion...

Back to my point: When you say the shoe runs a half size big, does that mean that if you wear an 11, you should order 11.5 or the other way around?

I'd really like to get the Mizuno's but my local place (Movin' Shoes) doesn't carry them, and the only other place that I know of that does is online. That's why I need info about shoe size...unless anyone in the San Diego area knows of somewhere that carries them?

I love mizunos. I have the TJ/PV version. I like having more of a heel. The velcro strap is a little bit of a pain when you tie your shoes.

No its the other way around. If you wear a 12 then order an 11.5

i REALLLY wanted the mizuno pole vault or long jump spikes but theyre extinct i do believe! there not carried by any store i know of and i cant even find them in my size online. (because im a girl and they only have them in mens so its like a 7.5 or 8 in mens). well anyways...there nowhere to be found. :( so i went and bought the asics turbo jump spikes today and they seem good so far. the thing that worried me about the mizunos and what i didnt like about my nike PV/LJ is that there soooo stiff. its like stapping your foot into a hallow brick! i like my shoes flexible. also the nike PV/LJ kept me more on my toes than my new ones do. im not sure how i feel about that yet...

just my 2 cents! peace!

What do you mean? I got those exact same spikes just last weekend and I ordered them from a catalog at my local running store. Didnt' seem to have any problems....

by the way...they ROCK! I love 'em so far!

I don't know if anyone else has had a similar problem, but I found that the Nike LJ or PV spikes had a bubble of padding in the back that dug into my heel that would cause a lot of pain over time.

I just bought new spikes yesterday, and my choice boiled down to the PV Lite and the Asics TurboJump. Although the PV Lite does not have the same bubble of padding that the other Nike spikes have, I was concerned about durability (from what I hear from others). Combine that with the fact that the Asics TurbuJump were $40 cheaper, and the decision was a breeze.

I have had Asics before. The TurboJump is extremely light, and seems engineered for speed on the runway. Here's hoping that translates to vertical height!
