I just reread my reply to this post and realized I wrote like an idiot, sorry Duck, I was trying to encourage you and while bathing the baby and putting the kindergartener to be I lost my train of thought. Ok, here was my thoughts in a nutshell, I believe you can jump 17 on a 15 pole, you won't be the first, and I believe it will help your development as a vaulter.
compete and jump safe, have fun

I hope I can do it, before and at the state meet. Im getting a whole lot faster, and stronger, Iam traing harder now than i have ever, maybe even too much at times. but I still get around to vaulting about once a week, to keep the feel of vaulting still, and I can definately feel a diffrence each time out, Last year I went 13'6" from 8 steps (51 feet) at this time of the year, now im going about 15'. We are going to try and make it to that Waterloo meet next weekend, but it will hard because my dad is a cross country coach and he is hosting a meet the day before. Who is going to be vaulting there?

If you feel you might be training too much maybe you should back off a little. Or it may just be that you haven't trained as much before as you are now. Either way, remember that its still September and outdoor is still six months away. Its good to see high school kids like you training hard in the fall.
