Let's see... I just got a whole bunch of little plastic fireman figures at the dollar store. Like twenty for a dollar. They are all a little different. Handed them out to club vaulters who wanted one and they used them for steps on Sunday. I've heard of a guy using a troll doll with a nail through it's foot. Poor troll. Supposedly he rubbed it's funky hair for luck before vaults.
I'm looking to get an old action figure, maybe a G.I. Joe, and make a pole for him out of the inside of a ball point pen or something. Then I'll tape one leg, his take off leg, to a nail and use him as a marker. Could also demonstrate vault stuff with him!
The lawn gnome would be awesome. What about a Flamingo?
Great question!
Maybe I wasn't supposed to eat those paint chips?

thats what I did with the gi joe but I made his pole out of a long bolt and bent it so I stick the bolt in the ground and he hangs from it but I took off his legs and head. and he wears a loin cloth.

Whoa! You have a pole caddy?! AWESOME! I want a pole caddy! Every single meet we drag our poles off the bus, and back on the bus, it sucks because we always have so many poles to bring, like 2 poles for each vaulter, a stiff pole and a soft pole. And our teammates get our steps and catch our poles, but it would still be awesome to have a pole caddy! And for marks...I use tape with my name scribbled on it, but the best marks I hvae seen this season were spraypainted tongue depressor popsicle sticks, decorated with puff paint with the kids name in school colors. It sounds stupid, but it looked sharp. I'll have to take a trip to the $$$ store sometime and pick me up some cool marks from the toy section... :)
Hey is that a pole in your hand or are you just happy to see me?
