Runway Types

What's everyone's preference for runways; raised or ground, hard or soft, mondo, etc.?
I like a nice hard runway, seems the fastest to me. Lately I've been liking a raised one too, especially if the box is a bit lower than normal .

Wood runways do seem to lose a little energy, however the bounce of them was always was fun and one could set the timing of the run.

Mondo surface has to be defined by the density.. A hard density such as was used inthe 1996 Olympics was very fast and most were not ready for such a fast approach. As the practicce sites were a softer durometer and timing was differrent.

An asphalt runway with Mondo of a 40 durometer or roll out runway would be the best and would not promote shin splints as often as the stiffer durometer would.

I like raised wooden, mostly because there easy on the shins and take less out of you. I can do short runs all day on them.

I like mondo or hard because I need all the extra speed I can get! Raised runways are fun...makes you feel like you're going faster. I also like blue tracks....don't know why.

once at a d3 national meet i was sitting by a coach from some school on the east coast that was talking about how he helped mondo design their surfaces a little and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about and he claimed that different colors of mondo could be faster or slower. i think he said that less intense colors like gray or blue were a little slower while a bright red might be faster.

i love mondo super x boards are cool if my rhythm is on. i dont mind most surfaces so long as they arent slippery but i get a little annoyed if a track requires 1/8th inch spikes

that runway could be amazing, but the surface is super soft and slow. its weird to run on. maybe thats what ill do with my roll out. ill have to talk to matt about that

Favorite runway has to be the Blue and Orange one at Morgan State, i think its mondo, very good, very fast, and very...unique.

All the ones I've been on are the same. Although I like the one at Plainview minnesota. (I got my P.R there)
