I have a vaulter who is vaulting at the Golden WEst Inv, and we were wondering what we need to do to get our poles to Sacramento. Does anyone know the process we need to take in order to get the poles on the plane with us?

Some of the information is a little outdated, but check out http://www.polevaultpower.com/airlines/

Do you know what they mean by container. Someone at southwest said the container had to be flexible. What does this mean? Would a PVC container be ok, or does it have to be a soft pole bag with just poles inside? Thank you

They mean like a corrugated tube with a bag around it (or just a corrugated tube).

SW planes are capable of taking PVC pipe, I've flown with them before, but there is a chance they will give you hell about it at the airport.

You don't want to put the poles just in the bag, that's a good way to get them broken.

I have been on southwest a few times and never had any problems.
They charged $50.00 each way. Poles are in pole bag with tubing.
