what drives you the most during the season?
is it the drive to break school, county, state
records? or do you just jump because it's something
fun to do? last night at our awards assembly my coach
was like "this kid is all about chasing records" because
freshman year i jumped 9'6'' to get that record and this
year i jumped 11'6'' to get the sophomore record (at
my school) and i am going to vault a lot this summer
and i'd love to go 13'9 1/4'' next year to get the school
record!
what's your drive?

Lolz....I would love to get my state and school records, and I think I probably will next year.
But I jump first because I love it. I eat, sleep and breathe the pole vault. I think I'm obsessed.

Well i hold my school record so its not that..and im pretty far from the state record sos not that either..... i think my drive is mostly the fact that this isnt a sport that everyone does... even tho many people do the sport its like its my thing to do..its what im best at...so i love doing it and i love getting better at it and breaking my own personal records....i also love helping the team out point wise.

same here...It's so wonderful, and there's always room to improve
I told the coach I wanted to run the 800 at one meet, and he said I should go out and qualify for nat'ls....then he asked me if I could consistently and easily run the 800 in national qualifying time and quit PV or keep PV ing, what would I do??
Of course, I would be loyal to my love.

Why I Pole Vault:
1. I love/live/obsess about the sport.
2. I love being around the people that I pole vault with.
3. There is always room for improvement and there is never really a point where you can say, "Okay, it's perfect. I can't change anything about my vault. Now what?" There's no ceiling above the bar (at least in outdoor
)
4. That feeling that you get when you make a break through in your technique and everything clicks.
5. That feeling that you get when you PR.
6. The total ambiance of competitions and being around a bunch of other pole vaulters.
7. To see how high I can go.
8. The feeling that you get during the vault (going upside down, getting high, getting a good reaction from a loaded pole, falling, etc.).
9. It's exciting because you never really know what's going to happen next (especially at meets).
10. Pole vaulters are just awesome.
Ok, I could keep going on forever really....I'll stop now
