Because no one else can run 10.0 for the hundred metres, long jump 8.50m, high jump 2.30m, have a gold medal in gymnastics at the world champs and an earned Doctoral degree in the psychology of competition. In addition few other vaulters ever started serious training at the age of three - it is obvious really. ;)

Because there is a ceiling where athleticism can overcome imperfect technique.

he really high jumped 2.30m? Isnt that like 7-1 or something?

wow i cant get 1.80... :dazed:

How long do you think before someone else comes along with his abilities? And dont say never because if time proves anything, thats not true. Do you think anyone could be more physically built to pole vault, and execute the petrov model better?

You mean to say achtungpv that you dont really believe that Bubka was capable of all that?? How do you explain him jumping so high? ;)

People say Bubka was a freak. That isn't true.

The freaky thing is having the perfect combination of speed, strength, gymnastic ability, and technique all rolled into one mentally tough man.

I think I talked about this a while ago, but I think the next person to jump 20 feet will be a 6.00m vaulter who has a career day and some bar luck. It is a matter of time.

Im no human dictionary, but i would guess sarcasms definition has something to do with the context in which a person says it and the tone in which they say it. Niether of which translate well on an online forum lol :P .

The guy jumped over 20 feet and lifted twice his body weight over his head, who am i to doubt he jumped 2.30 and ran olympic speed 100m? And either he has genetics built for pure athletic ability and lifted weights before he could walk, or theres some soviet crafting going on there  .

That's what the emoticons are for! A little wink ;) and a nod should give you a hint of intention. As for me, I'm usually a little confused
