Anybody know what the record is for lefty vaulters? i was reading bubba's page but it only said that Simon Arkell had the record but i was curious to see what his actual height was, anybody know?

Also, ive been thinking for a while now, and i cant come up with any reason lefty vaulters are at a disadvantage, anybody got one?

Ima lefty. Theres no reason we are disadvantaged, other than we only have 1/10 the number of vaulters as righties.

Lefties are at a disadvantage because they get heckled for being lefty...

Define "lefty". Do you have to carry your pole on the left, or does just writing with your left hand qualify?

i was thinking more about the vaulting aspect but, now that you mention it, i have heard people say leftys in general die younger... :deadrose:

actually

vaulting lefty became an advantage for me. im right handed so when i started polevalut they made me vault righty. but i kept jumping off the wrong foot because i used that foot for hurdles. so i switched to lefty and started getting higher.

I started as a right hander just because I am, but in eighth grade i switched when my coach wasn't looking and cleared a bar that was a foot over my pr, i just couldn't jump off the other foot and its ok to be a lefty it just means your not quite right, and you got to be a little crazy to vault anyway.

every year so many leftys are injured using items made for right handed people... ie pv poles, lol

biggest advantage i see is getting coached, almost all videos of vaulters are by right handed vaulters so you have think backwards

we got a new guy this year who is pretty good but he is left handed so when im trying to help him i try to do everything left handed to show him and it gets confusing, expecialy me trying to do left handed pop ups... quite dangerous !
