Yeah, the fattest person we had on our team was 170# but we didn't have a pole big enough for him, and he sucked. Too bad.

Hey 170 isn't fat! I'm just not a short little featherweight guy like most pole valters! ;)

I think I was one of the fattest pole vaulters in the country earlier this year. I got all the way up to 203-205 when I decided to lose some damn weight. I am now back at 183, my normal jumping weight. Eric Eshbach was also a fellow fat-man vaulter. He got up to 207 for awhile before he too decided to lose some damn weight.

as of right now, I am at 190 ish ( ranging 187-193) throughout the week. Jumping on 4.90 195-200, but the flex's are waaaaaay too far apart. the 195 is a 16.2, and the 200 is a 14.8!!!! and i tried to get on it on Sat. Lets just say that I was the bug in this case.......( as in the bug or the windshied scenario....)

I watched Todd Christensen (Hall Fame Tight End from Oakland Raiders) Pole Vault in a Masters Indoor Hept and in a Master Deca - he is about 6'5" and has probably slimmed down to 230 - the man is a stud at any age

Hey nothing on people who weigh 170... But this guys sucked. We had to borrow a pole for him from another school and then he got "hurt" and can't vault any more. When he was vaulting I could clear more height than him, and I've been vaulting for like 6 days. *lol*

I was 165 when I started vaulting and everyone thought Id suck and I was too heavy. Ended the year mostly tieing with the other guy on my team and I weigh between 175 and 180.

Go'in to camp this year at UGA to get my game on using a 182lb pole.

In college we trust.. sigh.. I wont be in this forum next year! :)

My friend jumps 17+, and he was an All American decathlete. His sport is the vault though and he is 6'4" 220 lbs and uses some tree trunk size poles. One of his poles is specially made it is a 14' with a 9.2 flex, super super stiff.
ahh San Diego: women, sun , beaches, pole vault, what else do you need.
