You know you're a Western NY PV Redneck...

If you turn your runway lights on at 6am before work to shovel snow off the runway & mats so there's a chance you can jump when you get home if the sun melts some of the ice.

If 3 deer stop dead in their tracks 30 yards away to watch you jump.

If every morning you go out to see what new animal tracks you have on your runway.

If you keep a bucket of rocksalt by the takeoff area so it doesn't ice over when the sun goes down.

When you use your father-in-laws snow blower to clear off your runway, a path around the mats and a coaches box off to the side.

When you snow blow your PV facility wearing a winter coat, hat, gloves, boots and shorts.

If you use Mean Green Sky Poles because they are the same color as your daddy's tractor.

As a side note to anyone from Gill who might be reading this. . . . SKY pole are supposed to be BLUE, blue, blue, blue, BLUE!! The sky is blue, not John Deer green. Blue yes. Green no. The only time the sky is green is when you ought to be taking shelter underground before the hail core around the tornado hits. Sorry, just a pet peeve. I loved my light blue sky poles so. :crying:

If the fact that 60 head of cattle drink an unbelievable amount of water means you never have to bail out your box.

If your rope-vaulting practice ends in a competition to see who can do the best cannon ball into the pond.

If, in a pinch, you used whittled-down horse shoe nails for replacement spikes.

Now Tim, the rope competition deal would really be something if it were done............ up here! (Minnesota). For some reason the water in our ponds up here are a little "harder" than what you have down there. Later.......Mike
P.S. I thought Sky Poles were supposed to be brown, brown brown!

If your coach tried to get around the new high school grip height rule using a section of a hoe handle, a little creative whittling, and a lot of tape.

If your mom has ever given you a push on the back.

If the only reason your grandpa didn't do it is because he couldn't get his walker close enough to the runway.

If you know your steps are consistent because you never miss the depressions in the dirt.

Hey now -

The most redneck meet I have ever been to in my life was this one:

http://www.treemo.com/files/treemo.tmcm ... 366.or.jpg

and it was a LOT further south than Oklahoma. :)

(Although, come to think of it. The whole thing was my idea, and I made the pit, rigged the standards, and had the box made out of wood. Sooo I guess your point still stands. Dang it!)
